The Reno weather finally cooperated and the Chapter 1361 Spring Young Eagles Rally was completed Saturday morning. It was a little chilly at the start but the day turned out great with clear skies and light winds.
Seven pilots volunteered to fly the kids and completed 21 flights. The group gave 38 kids a Young Eagle flight experience, 25 of them receiving their first flight. The group of Young Eagles was made up of 15 girls and 25 boys spread out between the ages of 8 and 17.
It was a great day and a fun time for all, participants as well as volunteers. As usual, events like this cannot be accomplished without a great group of EAA volunteers and the support of the folks at the Reno-Stead Airport and the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. A mighty thank-you to all of them.
Special thanks go out to the Young Eagles pilots for donating their time, aircraft and fuel to the event. From EAA Chapter 1073 in Truckee: Tom Meadows and Jim Richardson, from EAA Chapter 1361 at Stead: Randy LaRoche, Trygve Inda and Tom Dyer, from EAA Chapter 403 in Carson City: Stu Harrington and from the Reno-Stead Airport Association: Tom Hall.
Here are a few photos from the event.
