What’s Coming Up for the Chapter?

The first thing, obviously is the Young Eagles Rally this weekend, having been postponed from last weekend due to the winds. Please come out and volunteer. The more people that volunteer, the easier it becomes to conduct the event – everybody has a good time and nobody feels like they are running around without time to breathe.

In May (13th) the chapter is going to hold a Flying Start event at the beginning of EAA’s new Learn To Fly Week [look at the chapter calendar for LTF webinars]. I will be conducting the presentation. We will need Eagle Flight pilots and a few chapter members to come out and mingle with the attendees. Registration is open for the event. Emails requesting volunteers and pilots will go out next week, after the YE Rally is finished.

In June (12-16) the chapter will be conducting another YE Build & Fly week. It concludes on Friday with a fly day on Father’s Day(18th) at the RRCC [Reno Radio Control Club] flying field. Registrations last year came from the participants at the Spring YE Rally. This year there have already been 10 registrations [plus two returnees who will be used as student mentors].

In July and August we’ll rest or go to AirVenture (Jul 24-30), which ever you prefer.

In September we assume that the chapter will be asked to once again (and for the last time) manage the tram volunteers for RARA. There has been no movement on the part of RARA yet, probably due to their workload trying to get the Pylon Racing School organized. The races are Sep 13-17, tram orientation would be on Sep 9th.

October/November will probably include a Fall Young Eagles Rally but who knows, it could be snowing again by then.
