We had a Great Time Hosting the EAA Ford Trimotor Tour Again

Chapter 1361 was lucky enough again to be included on the Ford Trimotor Tour this year. Unlike our previous hosting experience, this year’s tour stop was conducted at Reno-Tahoe International Airport (KRNO) rather than our home airport at Reno-Stead (KRTS).

Two of the requirements for an EAA Chapter to host the Trimotor tour are that the aircraft must be in a hangar each night and the flights must be conducted from the location where the aircraft is hangared. The facility that was available to us at Stead three years ago was no longer available so a request was made to the great folks at Atlantic Aviation at RNO.

Patrick Wink, Atlantic’s General Manager at Reno, was exceptionally receptive and welcomed us to his facility and Robert Grainer, Atlantic’s Reno Facility Manager, did everything possible to make our event as efficient and professional as possible.

Over the three and a half day event the Trimotor conducted 44 flights and carried 421 revenue passengers – a great reception from the folks in Reno! Even the weather was perfect – until the last two flights on Sunday when some high-desert storms started developing.

Here are a few photos from the event:
