Tracy was elected as Chapter 1361 President in January of 2016.
He obtained his Private Pilot SEL certificate on July 12, 1970 in Big Spring Texas while at USAF Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT). Upon graduation from UPT he was granted a Commercial MEL (CLT) certificate. He served a total of 20 years in the Air Force. His first assignment was flying the Fairchild C-123K in Southeast Asia followed by an assignment as a Cessna T-37B instructor at UPT. His next assignment was as a student at the Air Force Institute of Technology located at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. While there he earned a MS in Aeronautical Engineering and received a follow-on assignment with the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory at Wright-Patterson. His last two assignments in the Air Force were flying the Lockheed C-5A/B, first at Travis AFB, CA as a pilot and then instructor and then at Altus AFB, OK as a flight examiner and Chief of Standardization for the C-5 training squadron.
Upon retirement from the USAF he was hired by Northwest Airlines and flew for them for 22 years. He was a Flight Engineer on the Boeing 727 and 747, a First Officer (co-pilot) on the Boeing 747-200, 747-400 and the Airbus A-330 and a Captain on the Airbus A-320.
Tracy has owned one or more Globe/Temco Swifts since 1972. His first was a 145 HP version which he flew and maintained for 36 years. His current Swift is powered by a 195 HP Continental IO-360-KB. Learn more about his aircraft our website’s Member Aircraft/Project Section.
Tracy holds ATP (ME), COMM (SEL), CFII, MEI, FE and A&P certificates. He is a Lifetime Member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, an EAA Young Eagle Pilot, EAA Eagle Mentor Pilot, EAA Techincal Counselor and and EAA Flight Advisor.
He operates Sierra Web Solutions, LLC., a website design firm specializing in WordPress-based websites for small businesses.
