This is an article first published in the May 2021 issue of EAA Sport Aviation magazine. In it Lisa Turner talks about the different times it might be prudent to replace or overhauls items on or in your aircraft.
Most of us don’t think about a Part 91-type aircraft as having life-limited parts or a mandatory replacement time that would apply to our types of operation – but mine does.
The CO_Guardian carbon monoxide detector/digital clock installed in my instrument panel has a mandatory 5-year overhaul time or it is considered unairworthy. The unit must be sent back to CO Guardian to have the internals refurbished or replaced so that the CO detector works properly.
Here’s Lisa’s article – it’s a good read.
