The Reno weather finally cooperated and the Chapter 1361 Fall Young Eagles Rally was completed Saturday morning. The day turned out great with clear skies and light winds, though there was a little smoke haze from controlled burns near Truckee.
Five pilots volunteered to fly the kids and completed 19 flights. The group gave 29 kids a Young Eagle flight experience, 17 of them receiving their first flight. The group of Young Eagles was made up of 12 girls and 17 boys spread out between the ages of 8 and 17.
It was a great day and a fun time for all, participants as well as volunteers. As usual, events like this cannot be accomplished without a great group of EAA volunteers and the support of the folks at the Reno-Stead Airport and the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. A mighty thank-you to all of them.
Special thanks go out to the Young Eagles pilots for donating their time, aircraft and fuel to the event. From EAA Chapter 1361 at Stead: Jim Martin, Trygve Inda, James Williams and Tracy Rhodes and from the Reno-Stead Airport Association: Tom Hall. Many thanks also go out to our tireless ground volunteers Greg Howe, Roberta Gerber, Jack Armstrong, Heather Armstrong, Jan Bishop, Kurt Redinbaugh, Marsha Pike, Russ Earl and Karen Inda. (If I missed anybody, please let me know.)
Here are a few photos from the event.
