We will be meeting at our usual spot – the NV Wing CAP Headquarters building at 601 S. Rock. Join us for our IMC Club scenario discussions at 6 PM.
Our meeting in September was a discussion based upon one of the IMC Club scenarios. It involved a planned 1.5 hour IFR flight in a Cirrus SR-22 to White Plains, NY (KHPN). The weather forecast was benign when the flight started with the possibility of scattered thunderstorms developing as the day progressed. The flight was vectored for the approach ahead of two faster-moving aircraft as ominous weather developed. As the flight passed the final approach fix lightning was seen in the storm directly ahead and the tower broadcast that a thunderstorm was developing over the airport. The two proceeding aircraft had landed successfully.
The scenario then stopped and asked what each of the attendees would do at that point in the flight.
We have arranged with the Reno FAASTeam Program Manager to include this meeting on the FAASafety.gov website listing of safety presentations and to provide Wings Program credit to those who attend the IMC Club meeting. If you wish to receive Wings credit just annotate the sign-in roster and provide the email you have associated with your FAASafety.gov account.
Our Club meetings will continue to be conducted in a guided discussion format rather than a lecture series so that each member of the group can have a chance to give their views and ask questions based upon their experience level.
