We will be meeting at our usual spot – the NV Wing CAP Headquarters building at 601 S. Rock. Join us for our IMC Club scenario discussions at 6 PM.

We first went over the questions in the supplied quiz on holding procedures and then discussed the monthly IMC Club question that is now being provided by the IMC Club managers. It was a good discussion about what constitutes a valid flight clearance.

Our meeting in June was a discussion based upon one of the IMC Club scenarios. It involved a flight in a Piper PA-24 from Boston, MA (KBOS) to Martin State Airport (KMTN) near Baltimore. We discussed Taxi clearances at large airports, looked at the filed route and then looked at an inevitable re-routing once airborne with an increase in cruising altitude. That lead to higher than forecast headwinds and the need for a divert to a mid-course airport for fuel.

We have arranged with the Reno FAASTeam Program Manager to include this meeting on the FAASafety.gov website listing of safety presentations and to provide Wings Program credit to those who attend the IMC Club meeting. If you wish to receive Wings credit just annotate the sign-in roster and provide the email you have associated with your FAASafety.gov account.

Our Club meetings will continue to be conducted in a guided discussion format rather than a lecture series so that each member of the group can have a chance to give their views and ask questions based upon their experience level.
