We received this notice recently from the folks who organize the Hayward Air Rally each year.
The Hayward Air Rally is the nation’s longest-continually running general aviation proficiency event – 2018 will be our 54th year. The rally has been featured in EAA Sport Aviation, September 2011 and again in November 2014. We’ve also just recently been in AOPA Pilot’s September 2017 edition. We work in concert with many EAA chapters to support our yearly event, and provide the scholarships as part of our 501(c)(3) nonprofit mission.
The Hayward Air Rally sponsors two fully-paid youth scholarships to the EAA’s Air Academy for the Advanced session (ages 16-18), July 24-August 4, 2018. The scholarship includes roundtrip air transportation for the recipient.
Our primary focus for scholarship applicants is from the three city areas in which the Air Rally will operate this year: Hayward CA, Redding CA, and Reno NV. We do accept applicants from all regions, however, and the selection process is competitive, so all who are interested are encouraged to apply.
