EAA conducts SportAir Workshops at their facilities in Oshkosh, WI as well as at select locations around the country. SportAir Workshops are intensive, two-day events covering various subjects associated with building Experimental Amateur Built (E-AB) aircraft.
Anyone who has an interest in aircraft building or the covered subjects may purchase a ticket to attend these workshops. EAA members who are signed into their EAA.org account will receive a substantial discount on the cost of each course.
Subjects covered include:
- Composite Construction
- Fabric Covering
- Sheet Metal Basics
- Electrical Systems & Avionics
- TIG Welding
- Gas Welding
- Fundamentals of Aircraft Construction
- What’s Involved in Kit Building
- Fiberglass Techniques for RV Aircraft
In-Person Workshops
Hands-on workshops are restricted in attendance so that the instructor has enough time to address each individual attendee’s needs. Often these workshops reach their capacity shortly after being scheduled.
The latest schedule of in-person workshops is found here.
Online SportAir Workshops
After the 2019-2020 period with restricted public gatherings EAA developed some of the Workshops into online courses. These courses obviously do not have a hands-on capability, however, the attendee can set up their workshop to ‘work along’ with course content while taking the course at their own time.
Online Workshops are currently available for:
- Electrical & Avionics
- Fiberglass Techniques for RV Aircraft
- Fabric Covering
Additional Online Workshops are being developed.
The latest schedule of online workshops is found here.
