The Soaring Society of America (SSA) has successfully renegotiated dates for their convention in Reno after having the event cancelled due to COVID considerations in 2022.

The 2023 National Convention of the Soaring Society of America will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center on February 23-25, 2022.
Chapter 1361 will retain its free display booth at the Convention, having previously been aassigned booth #40 on the main convention floor.
We must set up our booth on Wednesday, February 22nd and be ready to go when the convention opens at 9 am the next day.
We must have at least one volunteer in the booth at all times that the convention is in operation, 9 am through 5 pm, Thursday February 23th through Saturday February 25th
Teardown of the booth is scheduled for Sunday February 26th.
We have marketing materials that are Chapter-specific and we have materials from EAA National that describe all of EAA’s programs. EAA has produced a guideline for Chapters who have booths at marketing events such as the SSA convention. Chapter 1361 has taken their guidance and customized it for our chapter’s use. Access the pdf of our Booth Guidelines Here.

We plan to have two volunteers assigned to each volunteer shift. The shifts are 9:00 am until 1:00 pm and 1:00 pm until 5 pm, each 4 hours long. That means we will need 12 individuals to volunteer to work in the booth to cover all three days. The morning shift should arrive a little early to be ready when the doors open at 9 am.
The SSA Convention organizers will provide us with two exhibitor passes to enter the convention area. That means that the morning shift volunteers will have to pass the credentials to the afternoon shift when they arrive. And the afternoon shift will have to arrange to transfer the credentials to the following day’s morning shift. The schedule of volunteers will be available here (below the volunteer form) with each volunteer’s contact information.
If you would like to volunteer to work at the convention, please fill out the volunteer form below and click submit. We will have the final schedule posted by mid-February or as soon as the positions have been filled The date of the latest revision will be shown on the schedule.
If we have more volunteers than are needed to fill the positions we will assign the extra individuals as stand-by volunteers to fill in if someone has an unexpected event that prevents them from participating during their assigned work period. They will be listed as Alternates on the schedule and will not need to go to the Convention Center unless they are called.
Volunteering at this event is only open to current EAA Chapter 1361 members.
To ensure that we have current information we have deleted the schedule that was set up for the 2022 event and are starting over on developing a schedule of volunteers for the February 2023 SSA Convention. Please fill out the time you are available and willing to help out in the Chapter booth at the convention.
