Our Flying Start event on May 13th had a light turn-out but that didn’t effect the enthusiasm and inquisitiveness of those who attended.

Our presentation was comprehensive and answered the majority of the questions that the attendees had concerning obtaining a pilot certificate. At the end of the presentation we covered what the next steps should be to start flight training and where the training might be obtained.
Volunteer chapter pilots were on hand, were introduced and given a chance to relate their aviation journey. Pilots and participants were then paired and everyone headed out to airplanes to learn about aircraft preflight inspections and to then take an Eagle Flight. Each attendee got their chance to fly and see what it is like to control and airplane in flight.
All of the attendees have been given a 6-month complimentary membership in EAA’s international organization an a corresponding membership in Reno’s EAA Chapter 1361 at the Reno-Stead airport.
At least one of the attendees has already applied for their Student Pilot certificate and is arranging for the start of their flying lessons.
